Ashley Popie Wilson III

Ashley Wilson III, 58, of Rankin, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his home on April 23, 2025. He was the son of the late Ashley Wilson II and late Ethel Oakman. Ashley was a graduate of Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Along with his fiancé they opened a barbeque restaurant in Forest Hills Plaza, named Popie Redd’s, and he served his fall of the bone ribs. He loved laughing and being a stand-up comedian and watching Western movies. Ashley has been described as enjoying his favorite NFL team, Philadelphia Eagles, and every opportunity he cheered for his team. His favorite music was gospel, rap, and R&B, and his favorite quote was “God got me”. Ashley enjoyed traveling to Philadelphia to spend time with his children and grandchildren whenever possible.

Ashley is survived by his daughters, Shawnta Findley, Ashley Wilson and Denise Wilson, grandchildren, LaTaija, Da'Mauri, Dai'Marr Wilson, Dre'Shawn Wilson, Rita, Crosby, Derrick, Jermiah Wilson, Deonquay Wilson, Naquuaya Wilson, Taquayla Jarret and Qua'Sean Jarret, great-grandchildren, Aquaya Wilson and Amelia Lewis and fiancé Maudene Green. Ashley also leaves behind his animal family “Prince” and “Queenie”.

He is preceded in death by both his parents and sister Althia Wilson.
