DaShawn Awkward Obituary

DaShawn Jamaal Awkward was born on May 30, 2000, he was the son of his loving parents, Cher Renee Awkward and Torrene Mark Anderson. Day-Day, as we affectionately call him was such a bright light in our lives. He was funny, kind and considerate, but also a sweet and sensitive young man. He attended Pittsburgh Public School System, starting from Pre-K, Weil Elementary, Carmalt Academy of Science and Technology and completed his education at Brashear High School. He graduated with both maroon and purple cords in acknowledging his completion of the teaching magnet program. Day-Day was very athletic in football where he enjoyed teaching his cousins and other young children who referred to him as Mr. A-While.

Everyone knew that he loved sports and was very competitive and was dedicated to his team players at a young age of eleven for the Southside Sabers and Day-Day had a swag about his appearance and style and would jokingly say "Mom I am the best-looking kid you got". He was very particular about how his hair was and about which shoes to wear. This young man knew who he was, he referred to himself as "him". He was unintentionally funny, talented and confident in who he was and what he did. His presence, smile and his annoying knock at the door will be missed. DaShawn will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.

DaShawn is preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Craig, grandmothers, Cheryl Ann Awkward and Halima Mustaqeem.

He leaves behind to mourn his absence, his three beautiful children, Abrae'il Syniea Knuckles (Nana), DaShawn Jamaal Awkward Jr. (Juju) and his baby Damarijaleel Awkward (Dooters)  mother, Cher, father, Torrence Sr., eldest brother, lil Torrence (Tiffanie Anderson), brother, Tysair, sister, Rashada Anderson, Jamya, Kirsa and Chyna, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews with a wider range of family and friends.
