Dolores Jean Austin

Dolores Jean Austin, 68, was born to the late Ida Pearl Austin. She received her education in the Pittsburgh Public School, Schenley High School.

Dolores was a loving and kind member of her family. She adopted and claimed many family as her own children, too many to count. Dolores had numerous jobs throughout her lifetime, from babysitting, to even maintenance at the Housing Authority of Pittsburgh. But the job she enjoyed most was taking care of her family.

Dolores loved to relax and play her music in her house especially playing her “white boyz” as well as her oldies but goodies and Lauryn Hill. In her younger years, she played sports like basketball, swimming, softball, track and field. She loved to sing and all her animals (cats, dogs and birds). Dolores represented the Hill District everywhere she went by wearing her Ike Wear clothing and her sundresses. Some family members even remember a time when she had nailed record albums to her walls, her walls were completely covered and when she finally took them off the walls the walls had huge holes in them. Dolores believed that she was young at heart and loved to wear cowboy hats and animal print designed clothing. Dolores was an amazing mother, sister, aunt and friend.

On May 27, 2025, God called Dolores home for rest. Dolores leaves to cherish her memories her children, Kenneth Austin, Lamont Fulton and Robert Gilbert, grandchildren, Clarence Jamal Austin and Ava'Lee Fulton, brother, Juan "Ricky" Austin, niece/daughter, Ebony Banks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, Godchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Clarence Austin and mother, Ida Pearl Austin.
