It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dorothea "Chi-Chi" Nelson on August 26, 2025, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Chi-Chi, who was born on May 27, 1958, departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Chi-Chi was renowned for her kind spirit, infectious sense of humor, and her ability to wear her emotions on her sleeve. To know her was to love her, and her laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. Her overprotective nature revealed the depth of her care for those she loved, and her generous heart was always open to helping others.
Chi-Chi leaves behind her only child, Fredericka "Cooki" Morgan, and her son-in-law, Darryl Morgan. She was a proud grandmother to Darryl Morgan Jr., DeAndre Morgan, and Douglas Morgan, as well as a loving great-grandmother to DeAndre Morgan Jr., Malaki Morgan, Mateo Morgan, and a grandchild yet to be born.
Reunited with her parents, Harry and Dorothy, and her beloved siblings—Barbara Green, Linda Green, Kimberly "Kim" Green, Crystal Diane Green, and Robert Green—Chi-Chi now joins the family celebration in the afterlife. She is survived by her living siblings: Harry Green, Marion "Pee Wee" Green, Darrell "Tu-Tu" Green, and Theodore "Teddy" Green. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
Chi-Chi was a humble person whose spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. We will miss her voice, her walk, and her unique way of making each person feel special.
Rest in peace, Chi-Chi. You will never be forgotten.
