Frances Waynetta Dickson, age 74, of Churchill, died Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by family. She was born on October 18, 1950, in Bedford, the oldest daughter of the late William and Greta (Allen) Keys Sr. She is survived by a son, Richard Dickson of Pittsburgh, a granddaughter, Lanai Frost of Pittsburgh, brother, Van (Lugene) Keys of Palmyra, sister, Janice Leppert of Bedford, nieces and nephews, Bernadette, Lessa, Billy, Christy, Crystal, James and Michael, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Keys Jr., sister Margaret Keys and brother-in-law, Brooke Leppert.
Frances was a 1968 graduate of Bedford High School and a 1972 graduate of Lincoln University, one of two Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Pennsylvania. Traditionally all-male school, the class of 1972 was the first to graduate women. She retired in 2018 from over forty years as a commercial lines’ insurance underwriter working for several companies over the years with the last being the Penn National Insurance Company.
Frances enjoyed spending time with family and her dog Marley, reading, crocheting, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and twenty-four-hour news and Miller High Life. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered forever.
