On Monday, July 28, 2025, George was called to rest peacefully, after battling several health issues. George, affectionately known as Georgie, was born on June 3, 1951, to the late Joann Williams and the late Fred Williams in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
George grew up in the Hill District but later moved to Arlington Heights. George graduated from Fifth Avenue High School. Soon after, he went to serve his country as a proud member of the United States Army. During his years of service, George spent a short time in the United States Marines and eventually was discharged. Even after the time spent in the armed services, he remained dedicated and connected, by attending every military parade, throughout the city of Pittsburgh. George was very proud of being a Marine. He continued to read and watch videos about the honors of being a soldier, up until he became ill and ultimately passed away.
Known for his quiet wit and keen intelligence, George carried himself with a calm, laid-back demeanor thar endeared him to everyone he met. Everyone who knew him or met him realized how caring and compassionate he was. George cherished memories of living in the Hill District and Arlington Heights, and he often recounted stories of his childhood adventures—tales of backyard baseball games, football games, adventures with his brothers, and the simple joys that shaped his life. These recollections brought him, and those around him, abundant joy and laughter. George also loved his old school music. He would play the Whispers, Delfonics, and Temptations over and over when he was enjoying himself or hanging out with friends. He would even laugh and grin, while he tried to sing his favorite songs. Music was his therapy.
George leaves to mourn his homegoing and is survived by his siblings, Clarence “Buster” Williams, Kenneth Williams and Gloria Williams-Allen, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. George is preceded in death by both of his parents, Joann Williams and Fred Williams, siblings, Fred Williams, Mack Williams, Dennis “Butchie” Williams, and Edward Williams.
