John Albert Thorne Jr.

John Albert Thorne Jr., 56, of McKeesRocks, Pennsylvania peacefully passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 2, 2024, surrounded by his immediate family at Allegheny General Hospital. John was the son of the late John Albert Thorne Sr. and the late Gwendolyn Mitchell and stepmother, Rose Thorne. John was a man of great faith and worshipped at Walk In The Word Ministry. He was known for his love of people, music and football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He met Emma Penn and in 1989 they had his first daughter, Tabitha Penn. John was then united in marriage in 1996 to Arlena Ptomey and from that union he was blessed with his second daughter, Breonna Thorne. Everyone who knew John understood that he was full of life, compassionate and had a heart of gold. His faith in God touched many lives. Though many battles came his way, he always looked to God to carry him through. John was a true testament of God’s goodness, mercy and grace. He was a loving father and great provider until God called him home. John is not suffering any longer with the battle of cancer. John is survived by his daughter, Breonna Marie Thorne, grandchildren, Zy’ara Arlena-Marie Thorne and Zyon William Thorne, siblings, Kenneth (Gloria), Tonya, Shaune and Lois, stepmother, Rose, many Godchildren that he took under his wings, and he truly loved them as his own, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of family and friends. He is preceded in death by both of his parents and daughter, Tabitha. John’s dedication to his family and community will forever be missed.
