John Keith West Sr., born August 7, 1970, in Steubenville, Ohio, tragically lost his life in Homestead, Pennsylvania on August 13, 2024. He was the beloved son of John M. West and Vivian C. Younger.
John’s life was a testament to resilience and dedication. A graduate of Langley High School in 1988, he went on to earn his welding certification through the Boilermakers Local 154 in 2004 and his HVAC certification in 2014. His career was marked by his recent passion for working on railroad projects with Railworks, often alongside his daughters, extended family and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Younger, daughters, Yvonne West and LaDawn West and granddaughter Crystal Jenkins.
John’s legacy lives on through his surviving family: his devoted parents, John M. West and Vivian Younger, brother, Mark Younger, children, Ashley (Ron) Strong, Isaiah Bridges, Sam King, John K. (Janasha) West, Jr., Vanessa West, Faith West, Lorraine West and Gabrielle West; grandchildren, Dayonna Clinton, and her two siblings, LeQuan Bridges, Zayonahh Bridges, John K. West, lll, Nyla West, Nasiah West and their three brothers, and Amillianna West; his cherished godchildren Naomi and Zephaniah Marshall, and extended family (TaTanise and Jonathan Marshall).
John found joy in simple pleasures like fishing and gaming with friends and family. His warmth and energy will be deeply missed by a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. John joined and attended Kingdom Come Ministries in Clairton, Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed fellowship with his family in 2009.
This is a celebration of John’s life that will be held in our hearts to honor his memory and the love he shared with those around him. May he rest in peace and be forever remembered for his kindness and strength.
