Joseph William Powell, 17, passed away on October 9, 2025. He was born on June 9, 2008, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jospeh left this world too soon at the age of 17. Joseph was a student and had a bright future and a passion for working with his hands. He began his high school journey at Brashear High School before transferring to Passport Academy. During his time there, he earned several commendations including a ServSafe certificate, a certificate in the food service program and a honor certificate for maintaining a GPA of 3.0. His academic achievement reflected not only his intelligence but also his determination to succeed. Joseph had aspirations of attempting trade school to pursue a career where he could build and create-an ambition that matched his love for hands-on work. Whether it was cooking up something delicious in the kitchen, playing football with friends, painting vibrant pieces of art, or crafting vases and ceramic statues. Joseph found joy in creating and expressing himself through actions.
Those who knew Joseph remember him as funny, intellectual and deeply compassionate. He had a natural charm that endeared him to teachers, classmates and everyone he met.
He was known for being protective of those around him-always ready to lend a hand or stand up for someone in need. If you called on Jospeh for help he would be there without hesitation. Though he could be headstrong at times, his love for his family ran deep and true.
Joseph leaves behind many who will forever cherish his memory, his mother, Raenell Tyler (Thomas) Ford, father, Jospeh William Powell Sr., three brothers, Eric Wormsley, Dayshawn Wormsley and his twin brother Jehosha Powell, two sisters, Carman Powell and Charley Tyler-Wilson, niece, Emery Wormsley, nephew, Eden Wormsley, as well as a host of loving aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
