Mary Elizabeth Watkins-Cole was born to the late Edward and late Helen Watkins. She was the sixth of thirteen children born from this union. Mary was born and raised in Glen Hazel but she was a true Northsider.
Mary received her formal education in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, graduating from Gladstone High School in June of 1960.
Mary was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church for over fifty years. She was the President of the Usher Board, Pastors Aide and held various other positions as a member. Mount Carmel was her home away from home. Mary had numerous jobs throughout her lifetime. The one she always did with ease was taking care of people. She worked and ultimately retired from Holy Family Manor.
Mary was an amazing cook. Her collard greens and salmon casserole were life-changing. She was an avid bowler, fisher woman and Bingo player. She loved traveling, creating memories and sharing experiences. Most of all she loved the Lord and her family. Mary was an amazing daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend. You could always go to her house for a warm hug or a hot meal.
On April 9, 2025, God called his daughter home for her well-deserved eternal rest. Mary leaves to cherish her memories and honor her legacy her four children, Shawn (Kay) Cole, Rochelle (Ricki Sr.) Scott, Kerry Shea Price and Crystal (Jermaine) Revis, sixteen grandchildren, Tameshia, Taiona, Fred, Shawn Donnie, Sherrod (Danielle), Auvae, Kerry Jr., Shamar, Ricki Jr. (Bery), Shaquawn, Christofer, AuRhaya, Sherdina and Nauvae, seventeen greatgrandchildren, two sisters, Helena Griffin and Regina Watkins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
