William Darryl Bryant was born on September 19, 1951, to the late William Whitley and late Leila May Bryant in Braddock, Pennsylvania. He departed this life at the age of 73 on August 3, 2025. He was predeceased in death by his older two Whitley brothers, and by his beloved wife, Lovella Bryant. William attended Braddock High School, where he excelled in sports and earned a Certificate of Attainment for outstanding achievement in football. In addition to athletics, he immersed himself in woodshop, electronics, machine shop, and auto shop— developing a breadth of skills that reflected his remarkable intelligence and natural curiosity. His ability to master complex tasks with precision became one of his defining traits. Known for his wisdom and sound judgment, William was the person many turned to for guidance. He had an uncanny way of offering practical solutions and thoughtful advice, making a lasting impact on those who sought his counsel. William also had a deep passion for music. He played multiple musical instruments and, in the 1980s, performed as part of a band. He loved writing music and built a home studio, where he found great joy in honing his skills in music production and songwriting. Gifted with a strong singing voice, he shared his love of music with those around him, leaving behind melodies and memories that will be cherished. William worked at United States Steel in the 1970s. Over the years, he also worked in construction and as an independent electrician. He was also employed with DirecTV and served as a men’s counselor for an inpatient rehabilitation center. In the 1990s, William partnered with one of his oldest friends, Rev. Alan Flaitz, to operate a small business, Sunset Productions. The company specialized in on-location recordings of school and church musical events, concerts, and recitals—blending his technical expertise with his passion for music. William’s presence will be deeply missed by his three children, whom he deeply loved: Monica (Scott) Hughes, Roman Bryant, and Raven Bryant; his two grandchildren, Jordan Mack and Alivia Mack; and his two great-grandchildren, Jah’Niya and Jeh’Niyyah Whisenton. He is also survived by his brothers Donald Bryant, John Paylor, and Jason Paylor; his sister, Marilyn Bryant; three stepchildren; his nephews Donald Samuels and John Collie Paylor; and his cousins Roman (Rajo), Syretta, and Jetta, along with other relatives and friends. William joined Lighthouse Cathedral, where he continued to strengthen his Christian walk under Apostle Maurice C, Trent Jr., whom William considered his best friend. He became an Elder of Lighthouse Cathedral, where he faithfully served God as part of the music and video ministry. William’s life was defined by love for his family, a passion for music, and an unwavering dedication to helping others. His laughter, wisdom, and steady presence will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, lessons, and melodies will continue to inspire and guide us for years to come.
